A word of thanks

2020-04-30T10:50:06+01:00

I'm very grateful for the experience of running a restaurant and bringing to fruition what was a straightforward idea of serving good, allergy-free food to the community. It wasn't initially a career choice, but more of a gut instinct, an on-the-spot decision; and what an adventure it has been! As I come to the close of my 2017, I am reassured that I couldn't have done it without the support of your patronage, the skills and wisdom of those who served in the last 5 years at Naturally Chinese. Your kindness and constructive feedback is dearly appreciated, and I welcome you [...]

A few of my favourite things

2020-04-30T10:50:06+01:00

The next couple of days are the most exciting, the lead up to Christmas day --the time when all the family will be over, presents will be unwrapped and a sumptuous feast will be lain on a beautifully decorated table. It always begs the question, why do we hustle and bustle to make things perfect for a day that will be here and gone in no time at all? I suppose it is the thrill of possibilities, the feeling of working hard to give our families a memorable experience. No matter how big or small the affair, it should be something [...]

Hottest dumpling of all

2020-04-30T10:50:06+01:00

While the cold is upon us and we can't get enough of the warmth of good comforting food, our chefs are excitedly plugging away at a new menu revision for the new year. We want to streamline our menu to offer the dishes you love while at the same time, we want to make sure that we are continuously working to better them to perfection. We've noticed that our number one best seller that has stood the test of time is the crystal prawn dumpling: the hottest dumpling of all. The dish is the most versatile and pairs with any other [...]

Cinnamon and spice

2020-04-30T10:50:07+01:00

I've always relished this heart warming drink during the holidays. After a long day of work, and when it's warm and cozy in the comfort of your own home, this recipe is like magic to lift the spirits and put you in the mood for the Christmas. A mild touch of cinnamon and spice to this medium bodied red wine releases an aroma that delights beyond one you can imagine, and the fruit and nuts in each cup are good enough to make your christmas wishes on. I hope you find it as delicious and heart warming as I do every [...]

A Bountiful Table

2020-04-30T10:50:07+01:00

What could be more lovely at Christmas than a bountiful table, laid with heart warming food, maybe some mulled wine or Prosecco, and decorative crackers and Christmas foliage? With the weather stubbornly dragging its cold wind these days, it's an opportunity to get creative and festive. It helps to plan a little in advance for the big day of your celebration in the coming weeks. And a step by step process can prove you to be some kind of creative genius of a host. If you're thinking of adding some sparkle to your own table at home, start with the center -- [...]

Christmas Is Coming

2020-04-30T10:50:07+01:00

It's already that time of year again. Autumn came and went so soon. The past week, we can all agree, has been a significant degree colder reminding us that it's time to bring out the winter gear, and get ready for the holiday season - A cold Christmas is coming. But the good news is that the festivities are also about to begin. It's the most exciting time of the year, but it can also get intense with expectations, shopping, planning dinners, families, and the list is a long one. We're excited for this Christmas. With Naturally Chinese, the year has [...]

Warm Comfort

2020-04-30T10:50:07+01:00

Which would you say are the foods that bring you warm comfort in the winter? And how do you cook them, if you do? Perhaps it is the way the dish is prepared or its texture, saltiness, even sweetness, but my favourite foods to look forward to this season are the rich dark vegetables. The vegetable or plant food brings the best comfort in terms of calmness, alertness, and overall well being to the body. But a vegetable on its own doesn't do the trick, it is what complements it, what balances its taste and aroma. There are plenty of ways one [...]

Christmas Seasonal Menu

2020-04-30T10:50:30+01:00

The streets are slowly beginning to unravel that familiar Christmas feeling. The shops have already stocked on Christmas decorations and presenting their holiday offers, and I'm sure that Christmas bug will be upon you soon, if it hasn't already! It certainly has for me. This time of year is always very special. The lights, the get togethers with family and the chance for giving back brings warmth and happiness to the heart. This year, we want to create a space for you that you can relish for calmness and reflection. It was Winston Churchill who said "Christmas is a season not only [...]

Naturally Green

2020-04-30T10:50:30+01:00

There is something strangely compelling about the power of green in our meals. Our bodies seem to miss it when we don't get enough of it. Naturally green foods have a connection with nature and with us living beings. These foods being high in chlorophyll also facilitate the detoxifying of toxins in our systems and therefore our bodies know when we need a healthy dose of greens, in turn making us very attracted to these plant foods. Greens can be difficult to chew and consume as they are rich in nutrients and vitamins. At Naturally Chinese we understand the art to [...]

Chinese food and wine

2020-04-30T10:50:30+01:00

Here's our take on what makes a fine chinese food and wine pairing. Try it when you next dine in with us or if you order a take out and see the difference. The flavours of Chinese cuisine are complex and contain a mix of spice, smoked, sweet and sour. Having a complementary wine pairing is not only about the opposites in taste and flavour, but also in aroma and texture of the wine. For instance, a juicier fruiter wine like our house red pairs well with most of our salty or fried dishes. It is because this wine is not meant [...]
