Cinnamon and spice

I’ve always relished this heart warming drink during the holidays. After a long day of work, and when it’s warm and cozy in the comfort of your own home, this recipe is like magic to lift the spirits and put you in the mood for the Christmas. A mild touch of cinnamon and spice to this medium bodied red wine releases an aroma that delights beyond one you can imagine, and the fruit and nuts in each cup are good enough to make your christmas wishes on. I hope you find it as delicious and heart warming as I do every year. Here it is:

Star Kissed Mulled Wine

Try this heart warming recipe on those days of happy celebrations.

1 litre red wine (we use our favourite house wine – Chaumière Rouge)

2-3 whole cinnamon sticks

1 tbsp of green cardamom

1 tsp cloves

2 round slices of orange (avoid pith)

3 star anise pods

2 tbsp dried fruit & nuts (optional)

Set the wine & all other ingredients in a pot over a medium heat for about 15 – 20 minutes. Let it simmer gently but do not let boil.

Serve hot in a tea cup or heatproof glass. Add a few bits of fruit and nut to each cup.
