Tea Tasting Affair

Hints of jasmine, honey, magnolia, orange blossom and ginger fill the air as I sample some of the teas I am to select for the Tea Tasting event this Sunday, 18th May. It’s the last day of the Surbiton Food Festival and what better way for us to close than on a ‘Chinese High Tea’ affair.

The pairing of tea with food is a vital part of Chinese culture and gastronomy. It elevates the whole dining experience just like wine but only different.  There is a vast history behind the origins of teas and their individual processes and I will talk more about this at the event and in the coming posts.

This Sunday, Naturally Chinese will serve a range of five teas with a bite of variety of dim sum  to match each tea. The flavours work to enhance the overall experience and in most cases opening you up to subtle nuances in the food you may have not tasted before.

We shall also serve a traditional hot pot of aromatic Chinese chicken and rice which will go to show that a simple dish like that can pair beautifully with a selection of Oolong teas.

If this is something you might find interesting, or if you are looking to do something fun and eat something delicious, please email us at hello@naturallychineserestaurant.co.uk or call us at 020 8399 5533 to reserve your place. This event will take place at Naturally Chinese Restaurant on 18th May at 5pm.

Look forward to seeing you there.

Here’s a little inspiration for an afternoon tea.
