Mixed Vegetable Medley

2020-04-30T10:51:29+01:00

One of our favourite vegetarian options on the menu is our mixed vegetable. Doused in a light oil, this medley of pak choi, beansprouts, water chestnuts and carrots make a delicious accompaniment to any meal, lunch or dinner. This is our equivalent of a cole slaw or a potato salad on the side. Also filled with nutrients, it adds to a balance in the meal on the whole. In our specially designed four course set menus, the mixed vegetable medley is a key dish: high protein four course "feel good" set menu (for 2 or more people) includes: tasting platter; classic crispy [...]

A Sweet Finish

2020-04-30T10:51:29+01:00

Every meal should finish on a sweet note. It need not always be a grand creamy gateau, or a sugary tart. It could be a cup of perfectly made coffee of coffee liqueur. Dessert has been incorporated even during ancient times. Back then, they didn't have any of our sophisticated baking or sugar craft. They would serve grapes, dates or honey. The point may very well have been to clear the palette and quite simply, to end on a sweet note. Chinese cuisine doesn't have the vast range of sugar and patisserie. But times are changing and you might find more of [...]

Art Of Cooking

2020-04-30T10:51:29+01:00

Whether it be chopping, tossing, flash frying or carving a flower out of a vegetable, there's an art or science to it all. And no matter the same formulaic recipe, it still differs from individual to individual, therein the art of cooking it. Like any art, it takes years of practice to cultivate a mode, a pattern, a personal touch that makes the cooking unique. Every little morsel of dim sum brought to your table has been handcrafted dexterously in a matter of seconds by a highly skilled chef. Our chefs at Naturally Chinese carry the depth and breadth of experience [...]

It's that time again, can you believe it? Last Christmas only felt like yesterday and here we are already planning the next. Planning a Christmas menu is always a fun challenge, as we want to create a delicious experience that delights the senses and brings a festive spirit to the season. This year, we have included some more treats like a complimentary glass of either red, white or prosecco, delectable meats like crispy aromatic duck and crispy lamb. [...]

Squid Fillet

2020-04-30T10:51:30+01:00

Fluffy, mildly savoury and crunchy - this delicate appetizer is a new favourite on our menu. It also is one for all seasons being great to pair with a Summer wine and deliciously comforting with a warming wine in winter. The squid fillet can be found on our appetizer/ starter section. The batter is made from potato starch which brings a new twist onto a typical tempura or deep fried style dish. Red chili peppers and green onion make the perfect complement taste and sight wise. Originally a Honk Kong style preparation, but at Naturally Chinese we are getting it down to [...]

Tofu & Aubergine

2020-04-30T10:51:30+01:00

For those who want to bulk up their meals without adding meat or fish, tofu can be a great substitute. An ingredient also known as bean curd made out of soy milk, it is rich in amino acids, calcium and other vitamins. This makes tofu a nutrient packed dish to have at anytime during the day. Also, its delicate silky texture makes it a fine accompaniment to many of our braised casseroles and hot pots. Tofu and aubergine go hand in hand and makes one of our most delicious Chef's specials - Pan fried tofu with sweet peppers, aubergines and black [...]

Autumn Upkeep

2020-04-30T10:51:30+01:00

It's time for our annual upkeep. We will be closed for a short break from Monday, 12th of September, and re-open at 5pm on Wednesday, 21st September to resume business as usual. With the change of season from Summer to Christmas, we will be taking this time to do our Autumn tune up and maintenance at Naturally Chinese. Checking all systems and machines to make sure everything is working smoothly and as per set standards. A few cosmetic changes will also be undertaken with a little re-decorating to gear up for the holiday season. And as Christmas will be soon approaching, our set [...]

Morning Glory

2020-04-30T10:51:30+01:00

We've often been asked about this dish on our menu. Mistaken for the flower or the popular song by 'Oasis', this dark green vegetable side dish on our menu is a relative of the spinach family. Rich in nutrients, it grows in abundance by rivers in most Asian countries like China, Indonesia, Vietnam and many more. Its most unique quality is its tubular structure, is crunchy to eat and retains its colour and texture even when cooked. As a child, I recall waking up to the smell of this green vegetable as it would fill the river beds with its luscious growth. [...]

September Days

2020-04-30T10:51:30+01:00

As we embark on September; the days getting shorter but still with the hope that the month will bring us some more precious moments of sunshine to enjoy. This transitional season gives us the time to firm up some loose ends before the excitement of Christmas. For a special time like September, the dim sum afternoon makes a perfect lunch occasion after a walk in the park or shopping with a friend. The term 'dim sum' means to touch the heart with a lightness to the mind and body. An invigorating dim sum lunch at Naturally Chinese comes with a whole [...]
