Last Monday proved to be a great success! We fulfilled our target and raised £2198 which will go to the children in Vietnam charity. The Mayor, Councillor Ken Smith and the Mayoress, Mrs. Madeleine Smith who celebrated the event with us just before their last day in office showed esteemed support for the occasion. It was a truly splendid evening. Everything came together smoothly. It seemed effortless for people who didn’t all necessarily know each other to sit together over a good meal and show kindness to those in Vietnam who they may never meet.

We also had a table filled with beautiful raffle prizes that were donated by some of our generous neighbouring businesses. The prizes ranged from gift vouchers to vintage brandy and wines, books and art pieces. The spirit of generosity was contagious with some people including The Mayor, who donated their raffles back into the pot. His empathy towards the cause left me touched especially when he asked me to put back a cheque into the fund for children of Vietnam that I had – as a token of appreciation – decided to donate to his charity. A man with a big heart. Also a delightful energy that most certainly graced the evening.

Fundraising Dinner at Naturally Chinese London

Chef Chiu did a fantastic job with the dinner. Steaming baskets of dim sum followed by a variety of dishes for the main course. And champagne that was served to everyone. Each table joined in a toast with The Mayor. I’m also proud of our staff and that they worked together to keep everything running smoothly.

We’re very thankful for the opportunity to have been able to do this, and also for enthusiasm of all of you to help those in need. The money raised will go towards buying school books, socks, clothing, and other supplies that will alleviate some of the hardship borne by these poor families and children living in Northern Vietnam.

From myself and Chiu – thank you so very much.
